My name is Derek Blackmon, and I am coming on board soon as the Director of Youth Ministries.
I am moving from Pollard United Methodist Church in Tyler, Texas, where for the past 3 1/2 years God
has led me in ministry with the youth and college crew. I have a wife, Rachel, and twin 4-year-old daughters,
Avery and Aubrey. We are a wild crew that try to keep control of ourselves when it comes to acting like adults.
It's challenging to make 4-year-old girls act like adults all the time, and it's easier for me to act like a kid.
So, I pray through the leadership of the church and the amazing youth group I'll grow up some day!
I come to FUMC with 10 years experience in the youth ministry and everything the job brings. I am a huge sports fan,
but more than that I am a fan of what the church and youth of the church are doing.
I love the outdoors, which includes camping, fishing, off roading, and just being still
long enough to listen. Our God is an Awesome God, and I serve the one and only risen Savior.
